Since becoming a mum myself, Mother’s Day has taken on a completely different meaning.
Of course, it’s always been a day to appreciate my own mum. But now, I find myself noticing all the things mothers do in a way I never quite did before, the constant care, the invisible work, the mental load, and the quiet sacrifices that so often go unseen.
Becoming a mum has given me a whole new appreciation for my own mother, and for the women I see every day at the clinic who are doing their best to balance everything life asks of them.
It’s also reminded me how important it is for mums to take time for themselves, something that so many women struggle to prioritise.
Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be extravagant.
It doesn’t have to be expensive.
And it doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s version of it.
Sometimes, the most meaningful gestures are the simplest ones.
